Adult Foster Care
What is an Adult Foster Care (AFC) Home?
The adult foster care home is designed for people who are not yet ready for an assisted living, or qualify for a nursing home, but need extra care and supervision that they are not getting living alone. An adult foster care home is an in-between living situation for those that shouldn’t be at home alone.
Those who qualify for adult foster care homes are typically people who aren’t able to dress themselves appropriately, who don't take their medications as instructed, struggle with hygiene, don’t bathe regularly, and those who are depressed being alone or who need a little extra supervision for safety purposes.
Nursing Home Qualifications
To Move into a Nursing Home
Residents typically need to be unable to perform two or more of the “activities of daily living,” including bathing, continence, dressing, eating, transferring, or toileting.
Dementia
Dementia also qualifies as a criteria for acceptance into a nursing home. Nursing homes typically come at a cost of more than $10,000 per month.
